A Mother Of Sons A Mother Of Sons
This book can be personally autographed by the author. To order an autographed copy of this book, please go to the Personalized Items category. An entertaining, affectionate account of the joys of raising boys. From quiet moments with a toddler in the middle of the night to careening down a road with a first-time driver, this delightful collection of testosterone-tinged poems is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of any mother who’s been there—or is headed that way! Older moms who’ve lived through it will remember and laugh till they cry; younger moms, just beginning to understand that life with boys is never dull, will be forewarned! This charming second edition makes a perfect gift for any mother who has ever known firsthand the sweetness of a sticky, sweat-scented kiss, or any woman who is about to be blessed with a son. States one buyer: “One of the most touching books about a mother's relationship with her boys I have ever read!” Welcome to My World There is no pink in my house— just a rough-ridged rainbow of red, yellow, and blue Legos (and guns--not real ones, not even toy ones, just imaginary ones that began life as azalea twigs and shoe horns) that encrust my carpet and spread like alley cat kudzu. Battle cries. War whoops. Raucous laughter. Loud burps. Silence, if it comes, sits only long enough for mealtime grace. Even then, testosterone rears its rowdy head: Me do it! No, me!! No, me!!! Thanks get returned in triplicate at 80 decibels and 90 miles an hour, as each one tries to make sure his words get to God first. A New Mother's Prayers A New Mother's Prayers
This book can be personally autographed by the author. To order an autographed copy of this book, please go to the Personalized Items category.   Beloved by mothers around the world, featured in the premiere edition of Chicken Soup for a Mother’s Soul, and now--in its third edition--considered a classic, this is a gift you’ll want to give again and again. An honest and heartfelt collection of poems that “reads as softly as a sprinkle of baby powder,” according to one review, A New Mother’s Prayers pays tribute to every tender, tumultuous moment of those early years of motherhood. From awe to adoration, frustration to fatigue, it’s all here--ready to comfort and inspire every new mother you know. The Play's the Thing Forgive me, Lord, for all the tasks that went undone today. But this morning when my child toddled in and asked, "Mommy play?", I simply had to say yes. And between the puzzles and trucks and blocks and dolls and old hats and books and giggles, we shared a thousand special thoughts, a hundred hopes and dreams and hugs. And tonight, when prayer time came and he folded his hands and softly whispered, "Thank you, God, for Mommy and Daddy and toys and french fries, but 'specially for Mommy playing," I knew it was a day well wasted. And I knew you'd understand. Excerpted from A New Mother’s Prayers, copyright 2003 by Jayne Jaudon Ferrer

Dancing With My Daughter Dancing With My Daughter
This book can be personally autographed by the author. To order an autographed copy of this book, please go to the Personalized Items category. A laugh-out-loud, make-you-cry tribute to that roller coaster ride we call the mother-daughter relationship. Selected as a Top Ten Catholic Hardcover, this sweet and sassy collection of poems explores the best--and bittersweet--moments of raising a daughter. The result is a wonderful keepsake gift ideal for special occasions such as confirmation, graduation, Mother’s Day, wedding day, or the birth of a daughter or granddaughter. Plenty of room to record special memories of your own! Budding Beauty I catch you trying on my bra. Like a doe made immobile by the glare of headlights, you stand frozen in my stare-- a sight at once lurid and adorable. (A definite Kodak moment, though I wouldn't dare.) Taking in the tangled heap of lace on the bed before you, the tubes and compacts splayed on the counter behind you, and the pitiful picture of your sweet lips smeared with "Cinnamon Sin" and "Mango Mama," (You're mixing colors? That's great!) by a hand whose pudgy contours will still grip lollipops better than lipstick for some years to come, I suppress my smile and give an apprizing nod. "Good choice. Beige doesn't show through." Excerpted from Dancing with My Daughter, copyright 2003 by Jayne Jaudon Ferrer

She Of The Rib: Women Unwrapped She Of The Rib: Women Unwrapped
This book can be personally autographed by the author. To order an autographed copy of this book, please go to the Personalized Items category.    A funny, feisty collection of poems that explores the roles, responsibilities, and rewards of women approaching midlife. Actress Marcia Wallace, from “The Bob Newhart Show” says, "I've always been missing the poetry appreciation gene, but it kicked in for...this book!" “Designing Woman” Dixie Carter calls it “…a joyful evocation of Southern womanhood.” This is a perfect gift for those “significant” birthdays—from 39 to 100!--and a great read for book clubs. Topics include aging gracefully (or not!), the value of friendship, ways to handle a wayward man, and the healing power of a good cup of tea. Existence 101 Here’s what I think: God put us here to do more than take up space and mow grass. We are here to contribute something. Teachers, doctors, scientists, artists--all shoo-ins. Pro ballplayers, fashion designers--on shaky ground. Most of us fall somewhere in between. Yesterday, for example, I made my family’s favorite dessert,  smiled at a solemn old man, and let three strangers go ahead of me in the turn lane. Today, however, I fear I owe the universe a sizable debt for the peace, love, and joy my black mood sucked straight out of the ozone. So be it. We are not perfect, and there is no grade. There is only opportunity. Carpe carefully. Excerpted from She of the Rib, copyright 2006 by Jayne Jaudon Ferrer
