What started as a summer lark for Joyce Bethea has turned into a serious business. Several years ago, Joyce's aunt happened across a "placemat purse," and suggested to Joyce and her daughter Stephanie that they make a few. A tall stack of placemats and miles of ribbon later, the ladies had depleted their supplies, made a little money, and had a lot of fun... so much fun, in fact, that they decided to keep at it! They researched preferences and designs, came up with their own patterns, went to work, spread the word, and orders began pouring in.
