Nancy tells this story about this design: Seminole Patchwork Long time ago, many nations of people lived in the east. With the Europeans came new ways and new diseases. Hundreds of nations perished from the earth. The only memories we have of them are their names. Sometimes a few survivors of one nation joined with members of another, a patchwork of people. The Seminoles are such a combined people. Continually pushed further south in the great conquest for land, they reached the everglades in Florida, where they now live. Many Seminole women used what cloth they had, piecing together the good parts of the fabric to make new colorful designs. By sewing strips of colors together, then cutting them and sewing them together again in many different ways, Seminole patchwork became an art form of its own.
Note: Nancy uses recyled materials to create her art cards, so colors vary. If you prefer a specific color scheme, please note your preference in the "Notes" box when placing your order, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
