Talking Leaves
Long Time ago, humans forgot to respect the other beings. Boys kicked frogs and gave them warts. Girls stepped on bugs and screamed whenever the Creepy Crawlies were around. People hunted, not for meat, but because they liked killing. The Great Mystery gave animals the power to make humans sick. He hoped humans would get nearer the earth and remember that He made all beings from the same clay; that made them relatives. Each plant decided to help Two-Leggeds overcome diseases that animals gave them. When Europeans came, they were already talking to leaves (books). By listening to the kudzu say, "leave the trees alone, use us for paper instead," the artist was able to make this paper.
